Best thing: OLED contrast at a mid-range level

Honest catch: 300 nits typical — dimmer than many laptop screens

Our verdict

If you want the deep blacks and rich colour of OLED without paying for 4K, this is the sweet spot: light, well equipped and accurate, with a P3 preset for Macs. The compromises are a modest 300-nit rating, a glossy screen, a 1920 × 1200 resolution that is less crisp than 4K on a Mac, and no speakers.

The ZenScreen OLED MQ16FC brings OLED to the middle of the market. Its 16-inch 16:10 panel shows 1920 × 1200 with 95% DCI-P3 colour, Delta E < 2 accuracy, a 1 ms response time and 300 nits, in a body 0.9 cm thin that weighs 0.68 kg (1.5 lb). A built-in kickstand holds it at any angle from 0 to 90°, a 1/4-inch tripod socket lets you raise it, and auto-rotation switches between landscape and portrait. Two USB-C ports with DisplayPort Alt Mode and a mini HDMI port handle laptops, phones and consoles, and power pass-through can feed up to 65 W to your laptop. ASUS includes a power adapter, two USB-C cables, a mini-HDMI-to-HDMI cable and a sleeve.

Why you’ll like it

  1. 01

OLED gives true blacks and very high contrast, so films and dark-mode apps look far better than on a typical IPS portable.

  2. 02

95% DCI-P3 with Delta E < 2 means colour that is both rich and accurate — good for checking photos and designs on the go.

  3. 03

The 16:10 shape shows more lines of text than a 16:9 screen of the same width, matching most modern laptops.

  4. 04

A built-in kickstand plus a tripod socket — no folding case to balance on a hotel desk.

  5. 05

On a Mac, ASUS’s “M Model” P3 colour preset aligns the colours with macOS (after installing the ASUS ICC profile).

  6. 06

Plug the monitor into power and it can pass up to 65 W on to your laptop through the same USB-C cable.

Questions people ask

Will one USB-C cable work with my laptop?

Yes, if the laptop’s USB-C port supports DisplayPort Alt Mode (Thunderbolt and USB4 ports do) — ASUS asks you to check this first. If it does not, use the mini HDMI port for video and power the monitor through USB-C with the included adapter.

Is it a good match for a MacBook?

For colour, yes: ASUS offers an “M Model” P3 preset for Macs once you install its ICC profile, and the 16:10 shape matches MacBook screens. For sharpness, 1920 × 1200 on 16 inches looks softer on macOS than a 4K portable.

Can it charge my laptop?

Yes, with the monitor plugged into a USB-C power bank or adapter it passes power on to the laptop, up to 65 W. ASUS notes the adapter must supply up to 90 W to reach that maximum.
