This policy explains what information RightDeals collects, why we collect it and what choices you have.

Who is responsible: RightDeals is an independent project operated by an individual; it is not a registered company. The operator is responsible for the personal information described here. To contact us about privacy, email hello@support.rightdeals.net or use the contact form and choose "Privacy or data request".

Information we collect

When you browse

  • Technical and usage data. Pages viewed, the referring website (domain only), campaign tags in the link (for example utm_source), device type, language and market. We do not store your IP address in readable form: it is converted into a keyed hash that we use for security, rate limiting and counting unique visits.
  • Search queries. What you search for on RightDeals, so that we can improve results and spot products we are missing.
  • Clicks to stores. When you follow an offer link that passes through RightDeals, we record which offer you clicked, a click reference and a hashed session identifier. Links to Amazon in our guides and picks go directly to Amazon, so we do not record those clicks ourselves. See our affiliate disclosure.

When you create an account (optional)

Your name, email address, a securely hashed password, your language and market preferences, and the things you choose to save: watchlists, price alerts, saved searches and followed categories. If you enable two-factor authentication, the secret needed to verify your codes is stored in encrypted form.

When you subscribe to emails

Your email address, the topics you chose and a record of your consent (date, wording version and how you subscribed). Marketing emails are sent only after you confirm your subscription, and every email contains an unsubscribe link.

When you contact us

The name, email address and message you send, plus hashed technical identifiers that help us prevent spam. Messages sent through the contact form are stored in our private admin inbox, which only the operator can access. If you email us directly, your message is handled by our email provider.

Why we use it

  • to provide the service: search, product pages, comparisons, alerts and your account;
  • to keep the service secure and prevent abuse such as spam, scraping or fraudulent clicks;
  • to understand which pages and features are useful, using aggregated statistics;
  • to attribute affiliate commissions to clicks, which is how we are funded;
  • to answer your messages and requests.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.

Cookies and local storage

We use cookies that are necessary for the site to work: a session cookie, a security token that protects forms, and a cookie that remembers the market you chose. Your theme choice and the products you add to a comparison are kept in your browser's local storage and are not sent to us unless you submit them. Fonts are served from our own servers, and we do not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers. When you continue to a store — including Amazon — that store and its affiliate program may set their own cookies under their own policies; for example, Amazon uses cookies to attribute purchases to our Associate links.

Who we share it with

  • Service providers that host the site and our email (currently Hostinger) — only to the extent needed to provide their service.
  • Affiliate networks and stores receive the click reference when you follow a link, so that commissions can be attributed. They do not receive your account details from us. Amazon reports orders and earnings to us only in aggregate; we do not receive your name, address or what else you bought.
  • Authorities, when the law requires it.

How long we keep it

  • page-view records: up to 90 days, then deleted or reduced to aggregated statistics;
  • account data: while your account exists; deleting your account removes it, except records we must keep by law;
  • email consent records: as long as we need them to prove consent;
  • contact messages: until the request is resolved and the message is no longer needed.

Your choices and rights

You can update your preferences, export your data or delete your account from your account settings, and you can unsubscribe from any email with one click. You can also contact us to access, correct or delete your information. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law.

Children

RightDeals is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
