How we chose
We chose gifts that fix common home-office problems, including typing comfort, call quality, laptop ports, desk light and Wi-Fi. We used maker specifications and our buying checklists, and we noted who should skip each pick. Research-based, not used by us.
People who work from home spend most of their day using the same few things: a keyboard, a mouse, a screen, a camera, a headset and the home Wi-Fi. A gift that improves one of those tools gets used every working day. That makes it more useful than another mug for the shelf.
We grouped the picks below by how the person works. These are research-based choices drawn from maker specifications and our buying checklists. We have not used them ourselves. Each pick says who it suits and who should skip it, so you can match the gift to the person.
For the person who types and clicks all day
Writers, analysts and anyone who lives in documents or spreadsheets will notice a better keyboard and mouse every working day. Look for comfort over long sessions, quiet keys and buttons, and long battery life.
Many remote workers also switch between a work laptop and a personal computer. Being able to switch with one tap is a real time-saver for them. Both picks here come from Logitech's MX line, and both switch between 3 devices.
Quiet, laptop-thin keys that light up as your hands approach and hop between three computers at a tap.
- Up to 10 days per charge (5 months, light off)
- Switches between 3 devices
- Backlight wakes as your hands approach
A sculpted, quiet mouse that scrolls 1,000 lines a second and puts your shortcuts under your thumb.
- MagSpeed wheel: up to 1,000 lines/s
- Up to 70 days per charge
- Switches between 3 devices
- Logitech MX Keys S: Suits people who type all day and need a number pad.
- The backlight wakes as their hands approach.
- Battery life is up to 10 days with the light on, or 5 months with it off.
- Skip it for fans of deep mechanical key travel or anyone with a small desk. It is a full-size board, about 430 mm wide.
- Logitech MX Master 4: Suits heavy scrollers and shortcut users.
- It has a haptic Sense Panel with an Actions Ring.
- Battery life is up to 70 days per charge, and it tracks on glass at least 4 mm thick.
- It is a 150 g work mouse with a 125 Hz report rate, not a gaming mouse.
- Its receiver is USB-C. Computers with only USB-A ports need Bluetooth or an adapter.
For the person who is on camera and on calls
A laptop's built-in camera often looks grainy, especially in a dim room or with a window behind the person. A good gift for a frequent caller makes them look and sound clearer and gives them some privacy. Comfortable headphones also matter for this person, because they may wear them for hours of meetings and focus time.
If you are choosing headphones, our guide to noise-cancelling headphones explains which features matter.
Logitech
Logitech MX Brio Ultra HD 4K Webcam
A large 8.5 MP Sony STARVIS sensor keeps your face clear in dim rooms — in 4K or smooth 1080p at 60 fps.
- 4K/30 fps or 1080p/60 fps
- 8.5 MP Sony STARVIS sensor
- Built-in privacy shutter
Sony noise cancelling at just 192 g, with up to 35 hours of battery and two-device pairing.
- 192 g — Sony’s lightest ANC headband
- Up to 35 h with ANC on (50 h off)
- Multipoint: 2 devices at once
- Logitech MX Brio: Suits hybrid and remote workers who are on video calls daily.
- Its 8.5 MP Sony STARVIS sensor is built for low and backlit light.
- It records 4K at 30 fps or 1080p at 60 fps.
- It is certified for Microsoft Teams, Zoom and Google Meet.
- It needs a USB-C port that supports USB 3.0, so skip it if their computer has only USB-A ports.
- Sony WH-CH720N: Suits people who wear headphones for long stretches and switch between a phone and a laptop.
- It weighs 192 g and connects to two devices at once.
- Battery life is up to 35 hours with noise cancelling on.
- Frequent flyers who want the strongest noise cancelling should look at Sony's flagship models instead. There is also no carrying case in the box.
For the laptop worker who wants a real desk
Many people work from a laptop on the kitchen table. A gift that turns that laptop into a proper desk setup is a big upgrade. The key questions are which ports their laptop has and how much power it needs to charge.
Good light matters too. A light bar brightens the desk without adding glare to the screen. If the recipient also works from cafés or hotels, our gifts for travelers cover the portable side.
Sharp 4K at 120 Hz, and one USB-C cable that carries picture, data and up to 65 W of laptop charging.
- 27" 4K IPS at up to 120 Hz
- USB-C with up to 65 W charging
- 99% sRGB colour
Turn one USB-C port into 4K 60 Hz HDMI, three USB ports, two card slots and laptop charging.
- HDMI up to 4K@60Hz
- Up to 85 W pass-through charging
- 3 USB data ports at 5 Gbps
Lights your desk, not your screen: glare-free task light, a soft backlight and one-tap auto-dimming to 500 lux.
- 500 lux over an 85 × 50 cm area
- Tri-zone backlight, 2700K–6500K
- Wireless controller + motion sensor
- Dell 27 Plus 4K USB-C Monitor (S2725QC): Suits laptop users who want one cable for everything.
- It is a 27-inch 4K IPS screen at up to 120 Hz.
- The USB-C connection carries up to 65 W of charging, and the stand adjusts for height and pivots.
- Skip it for bright HDR movie or photo work, since it reaches 350 nits.
- Also skip it for laptops that need more than 65 W to charge at full speed.
- Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1): Suits MacBook and thin-laptop owners who are short on ports, plus photographers.
- It adds HDMI up to 4K at 60 Hz.
- It has three 5 Gbps USB ports and both SD and microSD slots.
- It drives only one external display and has no Ethernet port.
- Full 85 W pass-through charging needs a 100 W charger and cable, which are not included.
- BenQ ScreenBar Halo 2: Suits people who work at a screen after dark or have no room for a desk lamp.
- It lights an 85 × 50 cm area at 500 lux and adds a backlight adjustable from 2700K to 6500K.
- It fits curved monitors from 1000R to 1800R.
- It needs a USB-C power source that supplies 5 V / 3 A. For basic desk light, a simpler light bar will do.
For the home that doubles as the office
Sometimes the best work-from-home gift helps the whole household. Video calls drop when the Wi-Fi is weak in the spare room. A coffee maker that serves both a quick single cup and a full pot keeps everyone happy on busy mornings.
For more brewing ideas, see our gifts for coffee lovers.

- A single cup takes about 90 seconds.

How to pick the right gift
- Ask for a gift receipt. Desk gear is personal, so make returns or exchanges easy.
- Check what they already own. Many laptops and monitors already have a webcam, a hub or USB-C charging built in. Our gifts for tech lovers list more options if they are already set up.
- Check the ports. Some picks need specific ports:
- The MX Brio needs USB-C with USB 3.0.
- The Anker hub needs USB-C with DisplayPort Alt Mode and Power Delivery, or USB4 or Thunderbolt.
- The MX Master 4's receiver is USB-C.
- Check power and voltage. Some picks need specific power:
- The ScreenBar Halo 2 needs a 5 V / 3 A USB-C source.
- The Dell monitor supplies up to 65 W to a laptop.
- The Anker hub needs a 100 W charger for full 85 W pass-through.
- Measure the desk or counter. A full-size keyboard, a 27-inch monitor or a two-sided coffee maker all need space.
- Check their operating system. The Logitech extras, such as Smart Actions, haptics and fine webcam controls, need Logi software on Windows or macOS.
FAQ
What is a good work-from-home gift if I don't know their setup?
Choose something that doesn't depend on their computer. The Sony WH-CH720N works over Bluetooth or a 3.5 mm cable. The FlexBrew Trio and the Deco X55 don't depend on their computer at all.
Will the Logitech keyboard and mouse work on a Mac?
Yes. Both list macOS support, along with Windows and others. Some features need the Logi Options+ app on Windows or macOS, such as the mouse's haptics and Actions Ring and the keyboard's Smart Actions.
Can the Dell monitor charge any laptop?
It supplies up to 65 W over USB-C. That covers many laptops, but it may not keep up with a power-hungry 16-inch laptop under heavy load. Check the wattage of their laptop's charger first.
When should I buy for the holidays?
Prices change during Black Friday (27 November) and holiday sales. Check the current price on the store page, and buy early enough to allow time for any exchanges.
