Best thing: Comfortable, quiet low-profile typing

Honest catch: Shallow, laptop-style key travel — not a mechanical keyboard

Our verdict

If you type all day on a Mac or PC, this is the keyboard to get: comfortable, quiet, well lit and happy to hop between computers. It is a low-profile keyboard, so fans of deep mechanical key travel should look elsewhere, and as a full-size board with a number pad it needs room on the desk.

MX Keys S is Logitech’s full-size keyboard for people who type for a living. Its low-profile, spherically dished keys are shaped for your fingertips and keep typing quiet, the backlight wakes as your hands approach and adapts to the room, and Easy-Switch keys move it between up to three computers over Bluetooth or the included Logi Bolt receiver. One USB-C charge lasts up to 10 days with backlighting on, or up to five months with it off, and the Logi Options+ app adds Smart Actions that run several steps from a single key.

Why you’ll like it

  1. 01

Spherically dished, low-profile keys guide your fingertips and keep typing quiet — kind to shared offices and late-night calls.

  2. 02

The backlight turns on as your hands approach and adjusts to the room, so you find keys in the dark without wasting battery.

  3. 03

Easy-Switch keys jump between up to three computers or tablets — say a work laptop, a home PC and an iPad.

  4. 04

Charging is rare: up to 10 days with backlighting and up to five months without, over a standard USB-C cable.

  5. 05

Smart Actions in Logi Options+ chain several steps into one keystroke, such as opening your usual apps at the start of the day.

  6. 06

A full layout with a number pad makes spreadsheets, accounting and data entry faster.

Great for

  • Writers, analysts and office workers who type all day
  • People switching between a work laptop and a home computer
  • Anyone who needs a number pad

Maybe skip it if

  • You prefer deep mechanical key travel
  • You want a compact keyboard for a small desk or travel

Questions people ask

Can I use it without the receiver?

Yes. It connects directly over Bluetooth Low Energy. The included receiver is Logi Bolt; older Logitech Unifying receivers are not compatible.

Is there a Mac version?

Yes. This standard version works with macOS, and Logitech also sells MX Keys S for Mac with a Mac-specific layout.

Is it a mechanical keyboard?

No. It uses low-profile, laptop-like keys for quiet, fast typing. If you want mechanical switches, look at Logitech’s MX Mechanical line instead.
