How we chose
We compared maker specifications for dock features, navigation and obstacle avoidance, mop design, dust-bag versus bagless running costs and robot height, then matched each pick to the homes it suits. Research-based, not used by us.
A good robot vacuum is less about peak suction and more about fit: does it slide under your sofa, handle your floors, and keep itself clean without constant attention? The models below range from vacuum-only robots to full stations that empty the bin, refill water and wash the mop.
These picks are based on maker specifications and our buying checklist, not personal use. With holiday sales on the way, it is a good moment to decide which features you actually need before you shop.
Best all-in-one robots that wash their own mops
If you have mostly hard floors, a station that washes and dries the mop is the biggest quality-of-life upgrade. Dirty mop pads left wet in a dock can smell; hot-water washing and hot-air drying address that. These two take different approaches to the mop itself.
The Roborock Qrevo CurvX uses dual spinning mops that extend toward edges and lift up to 17 mm over rugs. Its standout is height: at 79.8 mm, with a LiDAR turret that retracts, it is built for low beds and sofas. The ECOVACS DEEBOT T80 OMNI uses a roller mop that rinses itself with clean water while it scrubs, which suits kitchens and dining areas where spills get sticky. For a side-by-side breakdown, see our Roborock Qrevo CurvX vs Ecovacs Deebot T80 Omni comparison.
22,000 Pa suction in a 79.8 mm-tall body whose LiDAR drops down to slip under low furniture.
- Up to 22,000 Pa suction
- 79.8 mm tall, retractable LiDAR
- 80°C mop wash, 45°C drying
A roller mop that rinses itself with clean water as it scrubs, plus 18,000 Pa suction and a 98 mm-slim body.
- OZMO ROLLER self-rinsing mop
- Up to 18,000 Pa suction
- 98 mm ultra-slim body
- Roborock Qrevo CurvX — best for homes with low furniture, long-haired pets and thresholds. Up to 22,000 Pa suction, structured light + RGB camera recognizing 108 object types, 80°C mop wash and 45°C drying, climbs thresholds up to 4 cm, up to 65 days of hands-free emptying. Skip it if you have no room for its 450 × 450 × 450 mm dock; Roborock does not publish runtime or battery capacity.
- ECOVACS DEEBOT T80 OMNI — best for tile, wood and sticky kitchen floors. OZMO ROLLER mop at up to 200 rpm with 3,700 Pa pressure, up to 18,000 Pa suction, 40–75°C hot-water wash, 4 L clean-water tank, up to 223 minutes of runtime (standard vacuum, hard floor). Skip it if your home is mostly thick carpet — the mop lifts only 10 mm — or if you want a bagless dock.
Best bagless robots: no dust bags to buy
Bagged docks are tidy, but bags are an ongoing purchase. Shark's bagless bases skip that: you empty the base bin by hand every few weeks instead. The trade-off is that tipping out a bin is less contained than sealing a bag, which matters if dust triggers allergies.
The RV2820ZE is Shark's all-in-one: it empties, auto-refills its water and washes and dries the mop pad. The AV2511AE is vacuum-only, aimed at carpets and pet hair. If shedding pets are your main concern, our best vacuums for pet hair page covers more options, including cordless sticks.
Shark
Shark PowerDetect NeverTouch Pro 2-in-1 Robot Vacuum and Mop with Bagless Self-Empty Base (RV2820ZE)

- Auto-refill for up to 30 days
- Washes and dries the mop pad
Maps your home with LiDAR, cleans in a multi-pass grid and empties into a base that holds up to 60 days of dirt.
- Bagless base holds up to 60 days
- Up to 120 min, then Recharge and Resume
- 360° LiDAR + Matrix Clean grid
- Shark PowerDetect NeverTouch Pro (RV2820ZE) — best for mixed floors, pets and allergies when you want no dust bags. Bagless base holds up to 60 days of debris, water auto-refill for up to 30 days, 360° LiDAR + 3D sensor, HEPA post-motor filtration with a base that traps 99.97% of dust and allergens (0.3 microns), 36-month warranty, up to 120 minutes (dry mode, hard floors). Skip it if you want heated mop washing or have little space: Shark lists 17.5 × 17.3 × 21.4 in and 24.8 lb with the base.
- Shark AI Ultra (AV2511AE) — best for carpets, rugs and busy pet households. 360° LiDAR with Matrix Clean multi-pass grid, self-cleaning anti-hair-wrap brushroll, bagless base holding up to 60 days of dirt, up to 120 minutes with Recharge and Resume, room and spot cleaning in the SharkClean app, 12-month warranty. Skip it if you want mopping or if emptying a bin by hand bothers your allergies.
Best simple vacuum + mop combo
Not everyone needs a mop-washing station. If you want daily vacuuming plus a light mop on hard floors, a robot with a detachable mop module and an auto-empty dock covers the essentials with a smaller setup.
Up to 10,000 Pa suction and mopping in the same run, then up to 7 weeks of hands-free emptying.
- Up to 10,000 Pa suction
- Vacuums and mops at once
- Up to 7 weeks hands-free (2.7 L bag)
- Roborock Q7 M5+ — best for multi-floor homes with mostly hard floors and some rugs. Up to 10,000 Pa suction, vacuums and mops at once with 3 water-flow levels, PreciSense 360° LiDAR with multi-level maps, JawScrapers comb main brush plus anti-tangle side brush, Carpet Boost, climbs 2 cm thresholds, 2.7 L dust bag for up to 7 weeks hands-free, 99 mm tall. Skip it if you want a dock that washes and dries the mop or you'd rather never buy dust bags; the app needs 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.
How to choose
Self-empty and mop-washing dock
A self-empty dock pulls debris out of the robot so you are not emptying a tiny bin daily. Mop-washing stations go further, rinsing (and on some models heating and drying) the mop. If you mop often, look for washing plus drying; if you mostly vacuum, a basic self-empty dock is enough.
Navigation (LiDAR, obstacle avoidance)
LiDAR builds accurate maps for room-by-room cleaning and no-go zones. Camera or structured-light obstacle avoidance helps the robot steer around cables, socks and pet mess. If your floors are often cluttered, prioritize models that list camera-based or 3D obstacle detection, not just LiDAR.
Mop type (pads vs roller)
Spinning pads are common and work well for routine damp-mopping, especially when they extend to edges. A roller mop that rinses itself keeps applying cleaner water as it goes, which helps on sticky spills. Also check mop lift height if you have rugs — a low lift means you may need no-mop zones.
Bagless vs bagged dock running costs
Bagged docks seal dirt away neatly but need replacement bags. Bagless bases avoid that ongoing purchase but need hand-emptying. Think about allergies, how often you want to deal with the dock, and whether you'll remember to keep bags on hand. Allergy sufferers may also want to read how to choose an air purifier.
Height to fit under furniture
Measure the gap under your sofa, bed and cabinets. The CurvX is 79.8 mm, the T80 OMNI 98 mm and the Q7 M5+ 99 mm; for the Shark models, check the robot's height on Shark's product pages. A few millimeters decide whether dust under the bed gets cleaned or not.
FAQ
Do I really need a mop-washing dock?
Only if you mop regularly. On mostly hard floors it saves you rinsing pads by hand and helps avoid odors. Carpet-heavy homes can skip mopping entirely and choose a vacuum-only robot like the Shark AI Ultra.
Are bagless docks better than bagged ones?
Neither is better for everyone. Bagless means no bags to buy; bagged means more contained disposal. If dust bothers you, a sealed bag may be the more comfortable choice.
Will a robot vacuum fit under my sofa?
Measure the clearance and compare it with the robot's listed height. Of the picks with a published robot height, the Roborock Qrevo CurvX is the slimmest at 79.8 mm, thanks to its retractable LiDAR.
Can a robot vacuum handle pet hair?
Look for anti-tangle or self-cleaning brushes and a self-empty base. The Shark AI Ultra, Roborock Q7 M5+ and Qrevo CurvX all list hair-focused brush designs or pet-owner suitability. A robot also makes a practical pick for new homeowners.
