Best thing: Outstanding battery life for the class

Honest catch: Noise cancelling is good, not flagship-level

Our verdict

If you want quiet on the bus or a plane without paying flagship prices, this is the easiest recommendation we make: excellent battery, genuine hybrid ANC and multipoint. Premium models cancel more noise and sound more refined — they also cost several times more.

The Q20i brings the features people actually use every day — hybrid noise cancelling with four microphones, a transparency mode, two-device pairing and an app with 22 EQ presets — to an entry-level price. The battery is the headline: up to 40 hours with noise cancelling on and 60 hours with it off, and five minutes of charging adds about four hours. It is the safe first pair of noise-cancelling headphones.

Why you’ll like it

  1. 01

Battery for a week of commuting: up to 40 hours with noise cancelling, and a 5-minute top-up gives about 4 hours.

  2. 02

Hybrid ANC (two inner and two outer mics) takes the edge off engines, traffic and office hum.

  3. 03

Transparency mode lets you hear announcements without taking them off.

  4. 04

Pairs with your phone and laptop at the same time and switches between them.

  5. 05

The soundcore app has 22 EQ presets, so you can tame the bass or add more.

Great for

  • Commuters and students on a budget
  • First-time noise-cancelling buyers
  • Anyone who hates charging every few days

Maybe skip it if

  • You fly often and want the strongest possible ANC
  • You need hi-res wireless codecs
