Our verdict

If pet hair and carpet are your daily battle and you don’t mind a cord, Stratos is one of the most capable uprights you can buy, with the tools and the five-year limited warranty to match. The trade-off is bulk: at 22.71 lb it is heavy to carry upstairs, and a corded full-size upright is slower to grab than a stick.

Stratos is Shark’s full-size answer for homes with shedding pets and lots of carpet. The DuoClean PowerFins HairPro system pairs two brushrolls — one digs deep into carpet, the other works directly on hard floors — and the self-cleaning brushroll lifts pet hair without wrapping. Powered Lift-Away lets you detach the pod and keep motorized cleaning under furniture, while Anti-Allergen Complete Seal works with a HEPA filter to trap 99.99% of dust and allergens inside. Odor Neutralizer Technology guards against smells in the vacuum, and a 1.5 qt dust cup means fewer trips to the trash.

Why you’ll like it

  1. 01

Carpet and hard floors in one pass: one brushroll digs into carpet while the other engages hard floors directly.

  2. 02

Pet hair without the scissors — the self-cleaning brushroll is designed not to wrap.

  3. 03

Under-furniture cleaning keeps motorized power when the pod is lifted away.

  4. 04

Sealed HEPA system traps 99.99% of dust and allergens inside the vacuum.

Great for

  • Homes with shedding dogs or cats
  • Large, carpet-heavy homes
  • Allergy sufferers who want a sealed HEPA vacuum

Maybe skip it if

  • You carry the vacuum up and down stairs a lot
  • You want something light for quick daily pickups
