Makita's 9237C is a full-size rotary polisher for car paint, boat gelcoat and stone or metal surfaces. Its 10 A motor runs from 0 to 3,200 RPM on a dial and trigger, constant speed control keeps the pad turning at the set speed as you apply pressure, and a soft start reduces polish and wax fling-off at the beginning of each pass. Mesh intake covers keep wool fibers out of the motor, and both a loop handle and a side handle are included. It ships with a 7 in hook-and-loop backing pad; foam or wool pads are sold separately.

The 9237C includes a 7 in hook-and-loop backing pad but no foam or wool pads. Makita sells the 9237CX2 (adds a foam pad and bag) and 9237CX3 (adds wool pads and bag).

What does soft start do?
