Best thing: Four plugs for the whole home
Honest catch: 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only
Our verdict
If you want lamps on at sunset, a fan off after an hour or a home that looks lived-in while you travel, these plugs make it simple and inexpensive. They are on/off only — no dimming or energy monitoring — they need 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, and Kasa does not list Apple Home or Matter support for this model.
Why you’ll like it
-
01
No hub to buy: each plug joins your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi directly and is controlled from the Kasa app, at home or away.
-
02
Rated for up to 15 A, so Kasa says it can handle heaters and hair dryers as well as lamps and fans.
-
03
Weekly schedules and auto-off timers mean the fan, heater or lamp never runs all night by accident.
-
04
Away mode switches lamps on and off while you travel so the house looks occupied.
-
05
Compact enough that a second plug can share the same double outlet.

- Anyone who wants lamps and fans on a schedule
Maybe skip it if

Questions people ask
Do I need a hub?
No. Each plug connects directly to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and is set up in the Kasa app.
Will it work on 5 GHz Wi-Fi?
No, it supports 2.4 GHz only. Most dual-band routers also broadcast 2.4 GHz, so this usually just means choosing that network during setup.
Can it dim a lamp or show energy use?
No. It switches devices on and off; Kasa does not list dimming or energy monitoring for the EP10.
